SHREE JAGRUT NAGARIK CONSUMER PROTECTION ORGANISATION- AN OVERVIEW
Shree Jagrut Nagrik Consumer Protection Organization, since its establishment in 2003, has been constantly and actively engaged in protecting the rights and welfare of “Consumer Community”. It is recognized by govt. of Gujarat. Its recognition No. is GSM/102006/2672/D-1. It has been the motto of the organization to raise voice against any injustice done to a consumer. In order to reach its goal, the organization conducts seminars, workshops, exhibition, presentation, video show, slide show, T.V. programmes (our organization is affiliated to J.N. T.V which exclusively telecast various programmes related to consumer rights, protection and education), displaying  wall magazines, posters, banners in schools, colleges, villages, remote areas of the district, clubs, societies, streets, gathering of social welfare organizations, farmer’s conferences etc., just to create awareness regarding consumer’s rights and what ought to be done in the case of violation of the rights. The seminars and workshops help people realize their position as “A Consumer is a king in the market”. If any consumer’s rights are violated or he or she has come across any problem i.e. cheating or fraud, the organization provides free legal guidance and total support.
 The Organization publishes a monthly magazine “Jagrut Nagrik”. Apart from educating the consumers by way of research and informative articles, the magazine gives details of the various court cases filed and won by the organization and the verdicts of the finalized cases.
 The organization works and conducts consumer educational and legal aid programmes in collaboration with other organizations such as Ministry of Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs, Govt. of Gujarat, Dept. of Legal Metrology, Govt. of India, Dept. of Prevention of Food and Adulteration.
The organization has filed 95 cases of afflicted consumer in the Consumer Court, Palanpur. More than two hundred cases have been turned into healthy compromise. In all such cases, the consumers have got necessary compensation and reimbursement. Mostly all the afflicted consumers have got the compensation and reimbursement of more than sixty lacks so far.
We are planning to start a new monthly magazine entitled “Grahak Jagruti” in a near future. The objective of it is to take in hand the issues and problems of consumers of tribal areas. Within no time we are to start a laboratory to inspect the Food Adulteration, In order to benefit the entire community of consumers, we raid where goods are sold at improper measure and weight and food is adulterated and the consumers can become a victim of fraud and cheating. A number of consumers have availed the advantage of our 24-hour help line service in which guidance is given and queries are entertained. We are going to start an Information Bureau so that the consumers may get each and every information related to their cases and the line of action.
Thus, we are committed to protect the rights of consumers and all over welfare of them.
